Your member matte convinced me to come here and join. I don't ride a GSX-R1000, but I have ridden one that a friend owned. I used to ride an R1, but now I ride an MV Agusta and a Kawasaki ZX-6RR.

I race against GSX-R1000s at my racetrack, Arroyo Seco. www.asmaracing.com. Those bikes are fast! My friend has one and I passed him, but at the end of the race he passed me to the finish line while he waved at me on the way by. Too fast... A 600 cannot keep up on the straightaway.

Maybe one day I will ride a big bike again, but for now I will try to build my skills on a 600. I also use fewer tires this way!

Thanks to Matte for coming to my bulletin board, I thought I would return the favor.

If you have questions do'nt hesitate to post them here.

Welcome aboard

Oh well, I didn't know if people want to come to a small bulletin board in the US for a small group of riders that ride at a small track! But we do have a lot of fun and the track is very safe. It is also in the wide open desert which is my home so it feels like home. New Mexico style Mexican food is very good as well, I always enjoy eating there.

As for the technical side of racing, I wish I knew more. I know how to build engines and work on the bike, but I am behind on suspension setup. I ride the bike to the limit, but I can't say what I need to do to adjust it to make it go faster. I am pretty sure that my first adjustment is rear ride height because it doesn't steer very quickly and the front tire sometimes loses traction when I don't expect it. I need more weight on the front and more steering angle.

Maybe people here can give me advice about suspension setup?

I try to ride fast as well. Our track doesn't have any really high speed areas. The fastest part is only about 145 mph, which is maybe 240 kph. You guys can ride faster than that on the autobahn! The fastest corner is about 80 mph, which is maybe 135 kph. Not very fast. But this makes it safe. I also rode at Firebird main, which has a faster straight and faster corners, but it is a very dangerous track. Someday I would like to ride in Germany, maybe at Hockenheim or Oscherschleben or Lausitzring. Those tracks are much nicer than the tracks we have in the US.

Well, it looks like I need to learn German now!

Matte, I am using babelfish.altavista.com for my translation. I don't know very much German! But I do know what you just said, and I understand that. I used to drink a lot of Bitburger (a bar I like had it) and it always said Bitte ein Bit on it. And of course I know what the rest said in your sentence.

I speak some Italian. I spoke it pretty well when I was in Italy in '96 for a few weeks. It was fun.

So I will keep trying to understand what is happening in here and try to respond.

Only 3 weeks until I race again!
